Easy Step-by-Step Art Lesson for Kids

Below you’ll find an easy step-by-step tutorial for how to draw a Paul Bunyan and a Paul Bunyan Coloring Page. It’s the perfect aid for a special book report.

Drawing of Paul Bunyan

Who was Paul Bunyan?

Paul Bunyan was a giant lumberjack and folk hero in American and Canadian folklore. His exploits revolve around the tall tales of his superhuman labors, and he is customarily accompanied by Babe the Blue Ox. Now students that are reading about the exploits of the two, have an easy way to draw the both of them in a few simple steps. Paul is decked out in his lumberjack clothes, and Babe is right behind with her strong, muscular frame.

On a side note, if Paul Bunyan is not in your lesson plans, but you would like to illustrate an example of PROPORTION (one of the Principles of Design), then this is your lucky day. Drawing a very tall Paul and Babe next to some very tiny trees suggests very clearly what the size difference is. And that is one of the most fun examples of proportion around.
